Despite the reputation for “slack,” we come across hard-working musicians all the time—unheralded people with Herculean work ethics that, to put it succinctly, kick ass. So let us herald Jeffrey Halford, a Bay Area-based singer-songwriter who takes the stage at the Torch Club, 904 15th St., on Thursday, April 12, with his band the Healers. He’s got a new album on his own label, Shoeless Records, titled Hunkpapa—which, apparently, is a branch of the Sioux tribe but sounds like a pretty good name for an inedible candy bar, nuts or no. But the album, which falls into the “Americana” genre, goes down pretty nicely. The Healers are fixing to start playing at 9:30, the cover is a reasonable $5, and the revamped Torch is a pretty sweet place to catch live music.
