Putting the ‘R’ in party

Old Gold’s Trisha Rhomberg has curated more than 40 handmade vendors throughout Northern California to form the Makers Mart at the R Street Block Party. The free event takes place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. Stretching from 11th Street to 13th Street, the boutique pop-ups will be accompanied by a DJ set from Rituals of Mine and live music by Salt Wizard, Sunmonks and others. Among the food trucks, there’ll be Pizza Supreme Being dishing up hand-tossed, wood-fired pizzas, Conscious Creamery serving the intriguing roasted strawberry flavor and Slightly Skewed putting charred bulgogi beef and ginger-scallion chicken on sticks for efficient, mobile eating. Brewing companies Track 7., Fieldwork, Sierra Nevada and Bike Dog will serve up cold beverages. And for those curious about the artistic process, 1810 Gallery will have six artists doing live collaborations on three large canvases. It’s the event that’s actually as cool as R Street aspires to be.
