Paws to Read With Norm Lopez
As a kid I used to sometimes read out loud to my dog Sheba, a black border collie. She was good at acting interested, although I'm sure that millionth reread of Little Women didn't thrill her. Sacramento celebrity cat Norm Lopez probably has a good reading game face—we'll find out for sure on Sunday, June 8, when he serves as M.C. (“master cat,” get it?) at the Central Library as part of its summer reading session. The beloved, furry “Mayor of Midtown” will be on hand to, uh, look aloof and take photos. While you're there, sign up for the online program for which you can log read books to qualify for badges and prizes. The event starts at 1 p.m. Sacramento Public Library, Central Library, 828 I Street; (916) 264-2920; www.saclibrary.org.
