Public Nuisance
Sometimes, for whatever reason, a band records an album, and it doesn’t get released right away. But what if the delay turned out to be 34 years? That’s how long it’s taken to get this one out, from one of the most popular Sacramento bands of the ’60s. Public Nuisance featured the talents of Jim Mathews, Ron McMaster and the late Pat Minter, along with local singer/songwriter David Houston, who’s put out a number of his own records in the interim, not to mention producing many more for other area bands. But this double CD was well worth the wait for fans of ’60s garage punk seasoned by psychedelia; it’s packed with 26 rockin’ tracks that stand the test of time. And the first-rate liner notes let you in on the band’s connection to such ’60s icons as Jim Morrison and (gulp!) Charles Manson. Do yourself a favor, go out and buy this excellent CD. Hmmm, 34 years? Gotta survive, indeed.
