Protein matters
If you’re a vegan, you’ve probably been asked “But how do you get your protein?” more times than you can count from omnivores who aren’t even sure how much they require themselves. The average is around 50 grams a day for most people, though it does vary depending on individual circumstances, including age, gender and activity level. It’s a good idea to consult with a nutritionist to see what your body requires, because consuming too much protein—which many Americans have been accused of because of the presence of dairy and meat products in the majority of meals—can lead to health issues, such as dehydration and kidney problems.
