Prom Night
A high-school senior (Brittany Snow) looks forward to her prom, not knowing that the obsessed stalker who murdered her family for “love” of her (Johnathon Schaech) has escaped from the booby hatch and followed her to the big dance. Not to be confused with the 1980 Jamie Lee Curtis slasher or its sequels, this one is written by J.S. Cardone and directed by Nelson McCormick. Or so say the credits, but the movie is lackadaisical on both counts, as if Cardone and McCormick figured that the title alone would guarantee the box office, so why bother making anything out of it? Every cheap-scare trick in the genre is deployed, but so feebly that not one of them works. (Or was McCormick glancing over his shoulder every few minutes, worried that someone he knew might catch him working such a low-grade project?)
