Pro protein
Protein shakes can be scary propositions: How disgusting will the contents of the often pricey canister be? I tried a hemp one recently, and it was so gritty and grassy, it scratched my hatch after I tossed it down. And then there’s NutriBiotic’s Rice Protein Spectrum Shake (www.nutribiotic.com) in vanilla, which a friend described as tasting like cake. Good cake? “Like sheet cake,” said friend. Sounds better than the throat-abrading hemp one. And in a glass of rice milk, the powder is an inoffensive way to bulk up on vitamins A through E, as will be evidenced by the consumer’s vividly yellow micturition. Yay, fortification.
