Power of the pen
Sunday, December 10, 2 p.m., Luna’s Cafe & Juice Bar, no cover
There is no shortage of folks who need the global community’s support in standing up for human rights. There’s a man whose Facebook post may get him a life sentence; a woman holding police accountable for the death of her brother; and an indigenous Honduran group risking their lives for their land. Write for Rights allows you to help with your words and just a little bit of your time. In honor of Human Rights Day (December 10), Amnesty International encourages people each year to write letters to help free these “prisoners of conscience.” Amnesty International Sacramento is hosting two local writing sessions, the second from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 13 at the McClatchy branch of the Sacramento Library. 1414 16th Street, www.amnestysacramento.org.
