Poppin', lockin’ and scissor hoppin’
In order to get to the Ashes 2 Ashes B-Boy Championships, to be held in Portland, Ore., this spring, local B-boys and B-girls have to make through the grueling West Coast qualifications this Saturday. Dancers from all over the country will be coming to compete in either the 5-on-5 crew battles or the solo King of the Hill category. This will be an all-day event, doors opening at 3:30 p.m. and crew battles beginning at 5 p.m., with quarter- and semi-final matches at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. The solo Pathway to the Crown elimination rounds will be held at 8:15 p.m., followed by the solo tournament at 8:45 p.m. Finally, at 9:30 p.m., the final round of crew competition kicks off with the top B-boys and B-girls fighting for their pass to the national championship. The event will be held at the Bella Vista High School, 8301 Madison Avenue in Fair Oaks. $12 for general admission, $8 for students with ID.
