Pootie Tang

This is a strange comedy. Lance Crouther plays a character that is a combination of Puff Daddy and Shaft—a sort of superhero for young kids everywhere. The movie, which is only 70 minutes long, is funny for the first 10 and then gets a bit tired. Chris Rock lends some laughs as Tang’s belt-wielding father, but the satire gets tiresome after a while, and things go from just OK to pretty darned bad. While it’s not very good, Wanda Sykes did make me laugh as Biggie Shorty, Tang’s would-be girlfriend. A one-joke comedy that is far too sloppy.
