Plants with a bite

I have two carnivorous bromeliads, one for each of you.
Carnivorous plants are seriously misunderstood life forms. Blame it on Little Shop of Horrors. Luckily, there are florists out there who show them some love. The Sacramento Bromeliad & Carnivorous Plant Society will host a show on Saturday, July 24, and Sunday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Shepard Garden and Arts Center, 3330 McKinley Boulevard. There will be hundreds of plants for sale, including noncarnivorous bromeliads and their meat-eating brethren. Bromeliad growers also will be available to give advice on growing and propagating. It’s time to step outside of your garden box. For more information, visit www.bsi.org/webpages/sacramento.html.
