Pizza with soul
Old Soul Co.’s recent reopening as a retail establishment provoked a sigh of relief from the foodies who lurk in Midtown—thank goodness those $2 lattes are available again. But wait, there’s more! Old Soul has added crusty baguettes with a tender interior to its lineup and, even better, bags of pizza dough to take home. Still for that same measly $2, you can get enough herbed or plain dough (flavors and availability vary) to make a generously sized pizza for two. Crank up your oven as high as it will go, stretch that dough out to a big, thin disk (or toss it if you’re brave; I’m not), top it, and bake it up. I like to add cherry tomatoes, little pearls of fresh mozzarella, and—after baking—a pile of fresh arugula leaves and leek shoots from my garden, plus a draping of thin, pink prosciutto slices. But I’m sure you can think of plenty of other combinations.
