Picnic Day packs a solid music lineup
Davis Picnic Day
Davis’ picnic day is coming up again for the 94th time. Literally. But we say that with a smile because, hey, an event that’s been running for 94 years must be doing something right. They certainly are with their proposed musical lineup. Local garage-punk ensemble Th Losin&Rsquo; Streaks will perform atop the KDVS float as part of the event’s kickoff parade, to which we say hooray: What’s the point of a wake-up call if it doesn&Rsquo;t throttle your eardrums with energetic rock ’n’ roll? Then, when the lazy sunshine calls for indie music lullabies to soothe you through the potato-salad food coma, you’ll enjoy the accompaniment of Two Sheds; Alas, Alak, Alaska!; The Standard Tribesmen; Afternoon Brother and Please Quiet Ourselves. Sa 4/19. Picnic Day Parade starts at 9 a.m. in front of the Grandstand Stage on North Quad Road on the UC Davis campus. The parade meanders through campus before making its way to downtown. The other five bands will perform on the Grandstand Stage from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, visit http://picnicday.ucdavis.edu.
