People come together
Right about now, we could use a healthy dose of unity, community and celebration. Luckily, the Root One Festival is here. Root One celebrates the diversity of Earth’s people with two days of food, art and music. Dance to the sounds of Thomas Mapfumo and Blacks Unlimited, Zydeco Flames and the blues of Freddie Hughes. Dine on exotic cuisine from places like Polynesia, Greece, Thailand and Germany. See dancers in national costume, shop for crafts and clothing, listen to stories from a wide range of cultural traditions and remind yourself that we’re all one people. The free festival lasts from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Royer Park in Roseville. Call 772-2557 or visit www.oneroot.org for more information.
