A free movie screening? Yes, please. The film being shown at the Rancho Cordova Public Library (9845 Folsom Boulevard) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, is PlantPure Nation, and it aims to do more than entertain. The goal is to blow viewers’ minds and spark a plant-based-diet movement to heal themselves and the Earth. We’re talking reducing and reversing chronic diseases, like Type 2 diabetes and heart disease, with the bonus side-effect of being kinder and gentler to the environment. The 2015 documentary has a companion cookbook; regional support groups called PlantPure Pods; and whole-food, plant-based frozen meals that can be purchased online; plus videos, a magazine, newsletter, blog and plenty of social media sources for those who want join the movement. But one does not have to commit to be a pod person to check out the movie—just being curious will suffice.
