Passion for fashion

The fashion industry isn't exclusively centered in New York and Los Angeles. Even Sacramento has its own industry. In fact, it has a weeklong Fashion Week full of events to celebrate it, and it's in its ninth year this coming week. The event's mission is “to showcase an exceptional level of diverse talents while promoting collaboration within our local community.” It does this by bringing models, designers, talent agencies, make-up artists and stylists together—which there are a wealth of in these parts. The events are fun, help local businesses and are educational for people interested in being in the industry. Each day there is a different program for people to attend. Sunday is the boutique showcase, Monday a fashion forum, Tuesday is a model boot camp and Wednesday it's hair and makeup and a fashion on film exhibition. Thursday is an emerging-designer showcase, Friday has the spring and summer showcase, while Saturday finishes things off with a fall and winter showcase.
