Over land, water and mud
This Saturday, Sacramento hosts one of the wackiest events around—the River Otter Amphibious Race. An assortment of daring folks, either solo or in teams, have created original, human-propelled vehicles they hope will travel over concrete, sand and mud as well as float along the river to the finish line. The public is invited to see whether these kinetic sculptures sink or swim. Prizes will be awarded for artistic merit, mechanical genius and finishing first or last. The race begins at 10 a.m. at Crocker Park, heads north to Discovery Park, floats downstream and ends up at the West Sacramento River Walk Promenade where entertainment and food await.
