Out of the vault
For most of its 151 years on Earth, the California State Constitution has rested under climate-controlled wraps in a secret vault. But this weekend, in honor of Admission Day (the anniversary of California’s acceptance into the Union on September 9, 1850), the state constitution will be on display at the Golden State Museum. Admission is free for everyone, so come see a piece of history, participate in family craft projects, check out the museum’s many exhibits and meet Janice Marschner, author of California 1850—A Snapshot in Time. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Golden State Museum, 1020 O St. Call 653-7524 for more information.
