I’ve written about the new Quarry Pond food and shopping center in Granite Bay in this space before but, just in case you’ve put off heading up that way, you might want to take the opportunity this weekend. Now that more shops are open, this weekend marks the market’s official kickoff. While you’re there, you can get everything from Acme bread and fresh baby artichokes to zinfandel. Thursday, May 10, is the official ribbon-cutting; Saturday features food and wine sampling, as well as music in the open air; and on Sunday, the brand-new breakfast spot Toast will be open for Mother’s Day brunch, serving up items like potato pancakes with eggs, sausage and red-onion jam. And Toast isn’t just for breakfast: The restaurant is also inaugurating a “Spring Evenings at Toast” series, with live music and other events at the dinner hour.
