Sure, you’ve got your Church Lady art police in Washington now, and it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Placerville native Thomas Kinkade will get the nod to paint the official portrait of the guy who now sits in the Oval Office. But, just as there’s more to Christianity than Pat Robertson, there’s more to Christian art than the above-named “Painter of Light™.” Edward and Diane Knippers believe that the Church must recover its role as a major patron of the arts, and their collection, The Artist and the Bible—20th Century Works on Paper, is on exhibit at Gallery W, 9933 Business Park Dr., Rancho Cordova, through Feb. 25. Hours: Saturday, 6:30-9 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m.-1 p.m., or by appointment. For information call 364-1111.
