Old-school cocina Mexicana
Tired of the plethora of fish taco joints that have dominated Sacramento’s culinary landscape of late? Taco Bell just not cutting it anymore? Then Alicia’s Mexican Restaurant, just off the I-5 exit on Florin Road in the Bel Air shopping center, is just the ticket. Alicia’s is strictly old school—large, hot plates loaded with beans and rice and your favorite Mexican staples: shredded chicken breast tacos, giant pork burritos, tangy chili relleno, crispy chimichangas, zesty shrimp ranchero. The place is super clean, with pleated burgundy leather booths, spinning ceiling fans and plenty of piñatas, painted clay pots and other Mexican knickknacks to gaze upon while waiting for your order. Best do your looking then, because it’s going to take some time to get through one of Alicia’s
platillos autenticos. Can’t think of a better way to spend an hour and a half.
