Occultopedia
www.occultopedia.com
Call it “everything you ever wanted to know about things that go bump in the night but were afraid to ask.” This extensive site contains a searchable database, arranged alphabetically, that ranges from “Aaronic Order” (a 20th-century Utah-based splinter group from the Mormon church) to “zygomancy” (an art of divination that uses weights). The Web site will keep you enthralled for days, if this is the kind of stuff that floats your boat—as it does mine. Each entry, some of them with nice accompanying illustrations, comes with annotation, with plenty of embedded hyperlinks that will transport you all around the site, along with related bibliographies and videographies, with links to Amazon.com and other vendors. There are annoying pop-up ads for occult books, but they help keep this site online.
