Nothing to sniff at
Smell-O-Vision. The concept bombed when piped-in exhaust (meant to simulate the smell of airplane engines) made audiences run from screenings of 1960’s Scent of Mystery. Smell-O-Vision was quickly shelved, along with vibrating seats and 3-D glasses, as an innovation the movies were better off without. That is, until Vancouver performance artist David Yonge went on tour with a hot plate, some aerosol cans, a five-foot fan and a dream. His unique Smell-O-Vision show, complete with bizarre commercials, a sing-along, a wrestling documentary and a surprise grand finale, guarantees “the best in scentertainment.” Yonge even promises to recreate “the true smell of love.” Experience the forgotten aroma of cinema for one night only, this Sunday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7. Follow your nose to the Crest Theatre, 1013 K Street. Call 44-CREST for more information.
