Not an awful falafel

Aside from a couple of hookahs and small tapestries, the Pita Kitchen (2989 Arden Way) still looks like the pizzeria that previously occupied the space. But the Kitchen’s kitchen offers inexpensive housemade Mediterranean fare, including shawarma, baba ghanouj, herbed pita chips and baklava—the latter two also packaged to-go at the counter. The falafel sandwich is a tasty bet for less than $5, and if they dim the lights and convert the front bar area into floor-seating space, the improved ambience will make the space tasty, too.
