No sign of Nourish
Nourish Health Bar and Cafe NorCal is hard to find. The vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, organic food cafe is in an abandoned-looking strip mall at 7433 Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights next to Bubba’s Car Wash. But the signage says Life Foods, which is the production facility and Hawaii-based parent company next door that makes its veggie burger patties, gluten-free buns, kimchi, dressings and kombucha—all of which may be purchased prepackaged at Nourish. Its menu is burger-centric with eight sandwiches, and even the salad and quinoa bowls come with a patty. The quinoa bowl was half wild rice with only a smattering of sautéed vegetables; ’twas not enough veg and overall dry. There are several on-tap kombucha flavors, including strawberry mojito, ginger turmeric and green mint basil, plus jars and growlers for filling. Now that The V Word can find Nourish, it’ll try the Chocolate Superfood nutmilk (almond, macadamia, dates and mesquite powder) and avocado toast next.
