No porn, good Buddha

Killing Buddha is: (A) a band, (B) a reference to every good Buddhist’s duty to contemplate mortality or (C) something you do with a bong.

Gosh darn. The last time we looked at the Web site for the Roadhouse (www.roadhouserocks.com), it had some kind of porno rock show scheduled for this weekend, featuring some truly skanky-looking babes and Dick Smothers Jr., supposedly the son of the famous comic. What happened? We’re crushed. Now it’s, like, Gator Alley Band: A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Purefire on Saturday, April 17, at 8 p.m. for $8. Not quite AC/DShe (that’s next weekend), but if you’re inclined, the Roadhouse is at 1516 Bell Avenue, north of Interstate 80. If that isn’t your particular cuppa, then meander over to the Blue Lamp, 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, this Friday, April 16, where you can check out local bands Amphora (reviewed in Clubber last week) and Killing Buddha and, from Los Angeles, Rain Fur Rent. The 21-and-over show starts at 8:30 p.m., and $6 gets you in.
