No more girls gone wild
One man’s party is another man’s political issue. The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors banned alcohol along the banks of the American River between the Hazel Avenue bridge and the Watt Avenue bridge during major three-day weekends: Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. But the Board didn’t have the authority to ban alcohol on the river itself. Assemblyman Dave Jones plans to finish the job of killing the summer river-rafting parties with Assembly Bill 951, which would ban alcohol on non-motorized vessels. Just imagine all those inner tubes floating down the river deprived of their coolers. Jones’ bill applies to closed and opened cans and bottles of alcohol, so no floating six-pack is safe.
