The kids are still on vacation from school. The relatives are still camped in your spare bedroom. How are you going to entertain them? Consider a trip to the Maidu Interpretive Center. As a holiday gift, the center offers free admission this Thursday and Friday. Bundle up for an outdoor tour of an authentic Nisenan village site containing petroglyphs and hundreds of bedrock mortars. Tours are at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. both days. Leave enough time to view the center’s new exhibit, Animal Spirits: Medicine and Power, a visual and hands-on exploration of Native American medicine wheels and wildlife-related artwork. If you’re not careful, you just might learn something. The Maidu Interpretive Center is located at 1960 Johnson Ranch Drive in Roseville. Call 772-4242 for more information.
