Newt Gingrich: Closet greenie or sell-out?

Two face, green face?
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is pulling out all the stops this week, attacking fellow hopeful Newt Gingrich with a blitz of ads in Florida leading up to next week’s primary. But environmental-news website Grist.org also is going after Gingrich, but this time on his green credentials. Specifically, they went after the former Speaker of the House’s mantra of “green conservatism”: namely, and in his words, that “wealth and freedom generally lead to better environmental practices.” Grist also reported in a forthcoming book, titled Environmental Entrepreneurs, that Gingrich announced he would be dropping a chapter on climate change after pressure form GOPers such as Rush Limbaugh. The take home on Gingrich’s Earth stance? He’s no loyal Mother Nature ally.
