Judy Kennedy paints with vivid colors and sharp lines, and her résumé is full of bright and familiar names, too. Her husband, Patrick Kennedy, is a lawyer and a candidate for Sacramento City Council’s 5th District; eldest daughter Natalie Gordon fronts Agent Ribbons; and in the early ’80s, she studied at American River College and UC Davis under Gary Pruner and Wayne Thiebaud and Robert Arneson, respectively. Local celebrity name dropping aside, Kennedy’s profession as an art educator of elementary-aged children dovetails with her career as an artist. She’ll show an equestrian-centric body of work this month at MAIYA Gallery, called Equus.
