Musical ‘XX'-pertise
Women’s Music Night returns after a long hiatus with folk-pop singer-songwriter Lis Harvey, Duval Speck and a special performance by the D’Town Ballerz. The showcase of women songwriters began in 1978 and has featured the best local and regional artists, as well as award-winning performers from around the world. Besides being a talented and frank songsmith, Harvey holds records with both Guinness and Ripley’s Believe It or Not for “extreme touring”—she played in all 50 States in just 60 days. Local favorites Duval Speck—the duo of Linda Duval and Cathy Speck—play their own soulful, folk-rock tunes, along with covers varying from Patsy Cline to Steely Dan.
Women’s Music Night will be held from 7-9 p.m. at Common Grounds, 2171 Cowell Boulevard in Davis, with a sliding-scale cover charge of $5-$10, kids under 12 are free. For more information call (530) 756-8260 or visit www.duvalspeck.com.
