Mortdecai

An effete English lord (Johnny Depp) dabbles in the art black market, especially now that he and his wife (Gwyneth Paltrow) are millions of pounds in debt, so he's the natural one to turn to investigate the theft of a priceless Goya. Meanwhile, his police-contact frenemy (Ewan McGregor) lusts after his wife, who has her own agenda. Directed by David Koepp and adapted by Eric Aronson from Kyril Bonfiglioli's cult novel Don't Point That Thing at Me, this mannered spoof of art-heist caper comedies is one layer of spoof too many, as precious and simpering as its antihero (where does Depp come up with these accents?). It's like a Saturday Night Live skit that runs on too long. Still, it's fitfully funny, and the actors (including Paul Bettany, Olivia Munn and Jeff Goldblum) are clearly having a good time.
