Katherine Parker is an artist from Davis. This weekend, some 200 of her works will be on display at the Toyroom Gallery. Most of them are acrylic on plywood panel, and the subject matter tends toward cartoonish explorations of a post-Roswell aesthetic: static-afflicted television screens, UFOs and eerie-looking skies. Some of her paintings generate the same sense of foreboding found in the painting on the cover of the great Davis band Thin White Rope’s masterpiece of a second album, Moonhead—which she didn’t do. The gallery is directly behind 2419 2nd Avenue in the alley that runs east of 24th Street. It will be open Friday, November 15, and Saturday, November 16, from 6:30 p.m. until “late.”
