Mon, Dec 14, Melt-Banana
Blue Lamp, 8:30 p.m., $12
The most impressive thing about Tokyo’s post-grindcore rock outfit Melt-Banana is that the band fuses metal, punk, thrash and electronica, and still is exceedingly listenable. Because, you know, sometimes you can appreciate the craft and energy of art-fusion bands, but the sounds nevertheless aren’t pleasant or agreeable. M.B. overcomes this and, some 10 albums and a couple dozen EPs later, is still both prolific yet rarely unoriginal. Last month, the band put out Melt-Banana Lite Live: Ver. 0.0, a live album; get this release and the real thing on Monday. With Tera Melos and Triclops!. 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, www.myspace.com/azap.
