Mon, April 18, Calling Morocco
The Press Club, 9 p.m., $3
There is something inside of all of us that will always love rowdy, poignant, drink-’til-you-forget-her anthems. If warm spring nights remind you of songs like these, Calling Morocco is a perfect soundtrack. The band’s first record, Outside Providence—produced by Katy Perry’s keyboardist—will be released next month. Kyle Olson’s Lucero-like raspy vocals regale tales of women who have ensnared him and the friends—and drunken nights—that sutured up broken hearts. Let’s hope The Press Club stocks up their supply of tall cans for this one—these songs will make you feel like you’ve known them your entire life. 2030 P Street, www.callingmoroccomusic.com.
