Mighty blue of you

Of all the days of the week, Monday’s the one where most people wake up with a case of the blues. So why not just go with the flow and immerse yourself in some kind of blues experience? Louisiana native and current New Hampshire resident Mighty Sam McClain knows how to sing the blues, and he brings a topnotch band with him, with a horn section and all. Apparently they’re visiting the West Coast for the first time. Which gives you good reason to go to the Sacramento Horsemen’s Club, 3200 Longview Drive, this Monday, July 22, at 7 p.m. Also on the bill are Alvon and the W.D. Gospel Singers, plus some blues cuisine—barbecue, a full bar. Cover’s $10 advance or $12 at the door, and the proceeds go toward a school music program in the late local blues musician Johnny Heartsman’s name.
