Michael Franti at Folsom Prison

Michael Franti, leader of the Bay Area roots-rock/reggae/hip-hop band Spearhead, has been a very busy guy lately. Along with recording two new albums and organizing his annual 911 Power to the Peaceful festival in September, Franti, a longtime human-rights activist, has been touring the world with his first foray into filmmaking. I Know I’m Not Alone chronicles his journey to Iraq, Palestine and Israel in the spring of 2004, when he visited with and performed for U.S. soldiers. Check out his Web sites for the tour schedule, video clips and info on how to host your own viewing party. Today, however, Franti is in town to perform at Folsom Prison.
