The closure of the Richard L. Nelson Gallery on the UC Davis campus last year—to make way for the new Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art—has been an opportunity for a first: to bring the university’s Master of Fine Arts candidates’ thesis exhibition to Sacramento. The second-year MFA student show, passively titled having happened, opened June 3 at Verge Center for the Arts with work in media including sculpture, photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, performance and ceramic sculpture by Sarah Chan, Zach Clark, Anna Davidson, Kristin Hough, Jeff Mayry, Julian Tan, Brett Thomas and Angela Willetts.
