Man, united we stand!
A few years ago, I repeatedly heard the name “Boyracer” as part of the verbal arsenal of a remarkably over-aggressive English-born record-company publicist. Scarcely a day would go by without a phone call hyping the splendid virtues of Kittywinder, 22 Brides, Grover, Varnaline, our own Beatrice 9 or the Threadwaxing Space compilation. Ergo, a mental block had pushed out any recall of the wonderful tweecore of Boyracer, so when a match with the local Electro Group and former local/current Philadelphia resident Kelly Slusher (ex-Crash and Brittany) was slated for the local musical football pitch better known as Capitol Garage this Friday, June 29, I was ready for scrum. Whilst the lads in Boyracer have made a go of it off and on for over a decade, their appearance in this particular hamlet is somewhat rare, which is to say that if you and yours are looking for a rather darling night out, here you go. The all-ages show, at 1427 L St., starts at 8 p.m.; cover’s $5.
