Celebration Arts gives their stage version of the life of gospel great Mahalia Jackson an upgrade this year, with a powerful gospel choir and a deeper sense of the historical times in which she lived. Elise Reese is strong as Mahalia, and she’s backed by Elaine Lenae Douglas and James Wheatley in multiple supporting roles. The songs are nothing short of fantastic. Th, F, Sa 8pm; Su 2pm.
