Love Letter, The

An Eastern seaboard romance between a middle-aged bookstore owner (Kate Capshaw) and her 20-year-old summer hire (That Thing You Do! drummer Tom Everett Scott) is fueled by the mistaken authorship of a love letter. This light, romantic mystery about missed opportunity and the many comic and dramatic wrinkles of both straight and gay relationships co-stars the ever-amiable Tom Selleck as a single dad and incredibly patient suitor, Ellen DeGeneres, Gloria Stuart and Blythe Danner. Directed by Peter Chan and based on the 1995 novel by Cathleen Schine (wife of Newsweek film critic David Ansen).
