Loser

Rated 1.0 An extremely unfunny bomb from director Amy Heckerling (Clueless, Fast Times at Ridgemont High) that contains not one laugh but has a bountiful supply of unyielding, painfully bad moments. Jason Biggs plays a social outcast at NYU who falls in love with a really dumb girl (Mena Suvari). Seriously, Suvari is forced to inhabit the dumbest character at the movies this year, and it’s agonizing to watch this appealing actress struggle with such bad material. The film has no redeeming qualities. Do you remember how Fast Times at Ridgemont High was disgustingly immoral and even uncomfortable to watch, but then Sean Penn would show up and make you laugh? This time, Spiccoli doesn’t save the day.
