It’s a perfect corner, next to Moxie and a few steps around the bend from Weatherstone Coffee & Trading Co. Deep, in its new space at 2030 H Street, offers yoga, children’s art classes, massage and (soon!) belly dancing upstairs. But downstairs, high ceilings and dark burnished-wood floors combine for a perfect gallery space. An exhibition by former SN&R art critic Tim White initiates those pristine walls until May 29 with paintings that reveal a highly honed realism. Fruit, glasses of chardonnay or landmarks like the Tower Theatre are photo perfect. But more intriguing pieces are those with human subjects, their faces hidden in shadow, like the hat-topped fellow in “Rawhide Peak Sunset” or the two in “Sunset Silhouette” who are blanketed in the dusk with the still-blue sky behind them, streaked with sunset- yellow-tinged clouds. White cleverly exposes a little detail, making viewers crave more, forcing them to fill in the blanks with their own vignettes. For more information, call (916) 448-3337.
