Look at old stuff for free
Twenty-six museums will put away their cash registers for one day of free intellectual madness. Only one question arises: Do you have the gumption to visit all 26 locations during Sacramento Museum Day on Saturday, February 6? OK, so you may have the desire, but unless you’re wicked fast like the Flash, it’s nearly impossible to visit the variety of art, history, science and wildlife museums in the Sacramento area, which also includes Folsom and Davis. It would be sagacious, however, to pick two or three must-see exhibits and soak them in. Check out the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery, The California Museum, Crocker Art Museum, The Explorit Science Center in Davis, Fairytale Town, Sacramento Zoo or others. The museums will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last guests admitted at 4 p.m. More than 80,000 people participated in Sacramento Museum Day 2009, and we’re currently in a recession, so plan ahead and expect the museums to be packed. Or just douse yourself in chemicals and get struck by lightning to become as fast as the Flash. Although, results may vary.
Sacramento Museum Day 2010 will be Saturday, February 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free admission to 26 museums. For more information and a list of all participating museums, visit http://sacmuseums.org or call (916) 808-7777.
