Locals at Luna’s
One of the best of the local poetry series is Poetry Unplugged, the one Frank Andrick hosts over at Luna’s Café & Juice Bar (which is an ultracool place in any universe, and also has dynamite comedy on Wednesday nights). The series celebrates its 15th year this month with more local poetry—and occasional visiting poets—in both the traditional and spoken-word forms. This week, the featured readers are Sandy Thomas, Martha Ann Blackman and Trina Drotar. They’re all pretty well-known around town, but don’t read terribly often. As always, the featured poets will be followed by an open-mic, so bring one of your best poems and come early to get a good spot in the lineup. And don’t be a creep; the event is free, so buy at least one drink (or even better, add a snack and share it with the rest of us) to keep the doors open and the cool vibe flowing.
