Local playwright, Louisville production
One of the advantages of such a full measure of local theater is seeing original plays produced. A number of troupes work closely with local playwrights, and we occasionally see productions that premiered in Sacramento go on to other stages. Sandy Richard, artistic director at Sac’s Kookaburra Productions, is also the author of The Dinner, which was produced by Kookaburra in April of 2009. Now Pandora Productions of Louisville, Ky., is producing The Dinner, which will play through April 10. The play is a comedy, with a long-term couple trying to fix up a recently dumped friend. The only problem is that she’s not over her ex yet. High jinks ensue, including a high-flying roast. What fun—and how cool is it when local work gets attention?
