Live long and prosper
Experience is the best teacher, but it can’t hurt to supplement it with a little academic insight. That’s why the gerontology department at California State University, Sacramento, hosts an annual Longevity Faire for senior citizens. This year’s event begins with coffee at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning and continues through a full day of educational presentations about subjects including legal rights, nutrition and fun community activities. Helen Klein, an 80-year-old long-distance runner who holds the national and world records for her age, will deliver the keynote speech at 10 a.m. Lunch will be available for $6 to those who pre-register. The fair will be held in the school’s University Union Ballroom. Transportation from local senior centers can be arranged at no cost. Call (916) 278-7163 to pre-register or for more information.
