Lipstick! memories
One of the more memorable and possibly awkward moments during my tenure here at SN&R was one morning after Lipstick! I came to work and everyone was busting my chops because they’d discovered photos online of a drunk me making out with this girl in various Old Ironsides locales—street side, seated at the bar, drunk on the dance floor. This was in, like, 2004, though, and hammered PDA was all good back then. Anyway, everyone seems to have somewhere between one to 50 similar Lipstick! chronicles, and that’s a good thing: It takes a venerable indie-mod Tuesday dance night to fool us into thinking we were at one point in our lives cool, maybe even salacious. Lipstick! will celebrate its ninth anniversary on July 7, and there will be prizes, a special guest performance by San Francisco’s Rubies, and deejays Shaun Slaughter and Roger will be playing some Phoenix, Passion Pit, Michael Jackson—you know, Lipstick! music. Pay your respects. Tuesday, July 7, at Old Ironsides, 1901 10th Street; 9 p.m.; $5; 21 and over.
