Life’s a peach

Peach pie, peach hand pie, peach cobbler, peach ice cream, peach salsa, peach hot sauce, peach soup, peach juice, peach jam, peach ice pops—did I say peach pie already? These are just a few things I imagine myself making if I had a peach tree in my nonexistent backyard. But I also imagine that a lot of these peachy wonders will be available at the Peach Festival, taking place at various farmers markets this summer. On Sunday, July 10, it takes over Carmichael Park (5750 Grant Avenue) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors will sell specialty items featuring peaches alongside peach-inspired chef demos, a peach eating contest and peach dessert contest for home cooks. The day also promises family-friendly entertainment and activities. After Carmichael, the festival roams to farmers markets in Folsom, Elk Grove, Roseville and the Sunrise Mall.
