Let’s get hitched
Display: California Wedding Chapel
As Valentine's Day nears, you may be dreaming of romance more than usual. You may even be thinking of getting married on a whim.
Why not? Don't answer that.
Display: California—the revolving concept store by Unseen Heroes, the same team behind Gather: Oak Park and GOOD: street food + design market—will transform into a temporary wedding chapel on Monday, February 2. Ditch your City Hall, church or Vegas plans, and instead hold a real or mock wedding—or renew your vows—in an alternative, unique space.
Unseen Heroes has partnered with local businesses to cover every wedding planning aspect: flowers, catering, design, photography, videography and so forth. There are a few package options ranging in extravagance, from a $300 quick “I Do” with an officiant to an $1,800 ceremony that also includes a reception and up to 40 guests.
Now, if even a fake marriage sounds improbable in the next couple of months, Display will also hold a love-themed pop-up shop. Think locally made gift items that say—literally and figuratively—“I love you.” At night, expect events for more casual lovers, such as workshops and dinner-and-a-movie date nights. And if you're suddenly feeling inspired, you have until March 22 to pop the question before the lovefest ends. 3343 Broadway, www.displaycalifornia.com.
